Udo Erasmus is a PhD who has written a fascinating book on fats that heal and fats that
kill.  Margarine, shortening, and heated oils are the most dangerous fats.  Yet, a low fat
diet is bad for you, too.  The author tells us what the good fats are, and how they are
needed for body healing.

For example, healing fats can reverse some degenerative diseases like cancer, heart
problems, diabetes, arthritis, allergies, asthma, skin problems, fatigue, yeast and fungal
infections.  The correct amount of each type of fat is also discussed.

One interesting fat is evening primrose oil.  It lowers cholesterol, kills cancer, prevents
arthritis, helps diabetes, and it can stop the nerve degeneration involved in multiple
sclerosis.

Another thing that the author emphasizes is a balance between Omega 3 oils and Omega
6 type oils.  Both are essential for good health, but most people consume too much
Omega 6 oil, and that can cause cancer whereas Omega 3 oil is an anti-cancer
compound.  Dr. Erasmus has an excellent table in the book where he compares more
than two dozen different oils, and he gives the amount of Omega 3 and Omega 6 oil in the
various oil sources.  For example, flaxseed oil is 58% Omega 3 compared to 14% Omega
6.   He maintains that the ideal balance of different oils would be one part Omega 3 for
three parts Omega 6.  Only one oil fits that specification, and that is hemp oil, which could
have legal complications.  So, he advocates mixing and matching different oils to get the
proper ratio, and this can be done through his table.
